Patterns for perfect pages

0530fmnsscrp.JPGTHIS 12-INCH BORDER was created using Cricut Design Studio. The little poodles and cupcakes were welded together and cut as one single piece; then layered and embellished.

Here's how to lay out the scrapbook page shown above.
 Materials needed:
Measurements are in inches unless otherwise specified:
 One 4-by-6 photo.
One piece of 12-by-12 cardstock (this will be the base or foundation of your layout).
One piece of 10-by-10 patterned paper.
One piece of 3-by-12 patterned paper.
 One piece of 4-by-6 cardstock.
 One 12-inch border.
A title (alphabet stickers or a diecut).
A gel pen in a complimentary color and white.
 Journaling pen
 Ruler
 Step by step:
Begin by taking the 10-by-10 piece of patterned paper and laying it on to the center of the base piece of cardstock.

Next, place the 3-by-12 piece of patterned paper approximately 2 inches from the bottom of the layout horizontally. Place the 12-inch border on top of this horizontal piece of patterned paper. The paper behind the border will give it a more defined look and keep it from looking as if it's floating in empty space.

Next, adhere the photo to the 4-by-6 piece of cardstock and then onto the layout slightly to the left of the center. Place the title above it to the right. Add freestyle journaling along the photo or across one side of the layout using a black fine-tip journaling pen.

Last, to tie your whole layout together, place a ruler approximately an inch from the edge of the patterned paper on the right of your layout.

Using a gel pen, draw a line being careful not to smudge it when you lift the ruler. Repeat this step for the remaining three sides of the scrapbook page.

Use a white gel pen to embellish the title and border with tiny dots or dashes.
